Happy New Year! (Let’s pretend I am posting this on January 1st 2018, alright?) So today, I’ll be sharing my favorite quotes/lines from the books that I’VE READ LAST YEAR. This doesn’t necessarily mean that these are all from 2017 releases. These are from MY 2017 READS.

This was actually supposed to be my year ender post for 2017, but then, I was really unmotivated to engage in any bookish stuffs at the end of 2017 because I was stressing over our research. So now, it’ll be my year starter post instead!

HA! So without further ado, here are my favorite quotes of 2017.

“I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker. Or I will not have you at all.”
― Leigh BardugoSix of Crows

“Brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared. It means you go on even though you’re scared.”
― Angie ThomasThe Hate U Give

“I promise you. I promise the stars. I promise the lake and falls, coy-wolves and robins. I promise earth and heaven: I will love you long after the last human has taken his last breath. When the stars burn out and the ocean freeze over and the whole world is ash and dust and ice, our names will still be carved into the tree of life, side by side, and I’ll still be loving you.”

Emily Henry, A Million Junes

“She’s not a cookie, or a book, or a record on a shelf. You can’t just play with her and then put her back.”

― Kathleen GlasgowGirl in Pieces

“But I can now understand why people read, why they like to get lost in somebody else’s life. Sometimes I’ll read a sentence and it will make me sit up, jolt me, because it is something that I have recently felt but never said out loud. I want to reach into the page and tell the characters that I understand them, that they’re not alone, that I’m not alone, that it’s ok to feel like this. And then the lunch bell rings, the book closes, and I’m plunged back into reality.”

― Cecelia AhernFlawed

“You ever consider that maybe you not supposed to ‘fit’? People who make history rarely do.”

― Nic Stone, Dear Martin

“I’m your father, and this is how much I love you. Enough to climb a mountain. Enough to catch a star. Enough to carry it home as it burns. Someday you’ll know what it’s like. Someday you’ll love something so much it turns every brown fish gold.”

― Emily Henry, A Million Junes

“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

― J.K. RowlingHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you’ll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won’t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.”

― Leigh BardugoSix of Crows

“But in weakness, you find your strength.”

― Julie C. DaoForest of a Thousand Lanterns

“You deserve every star in the galaxy laid out at your feet and a thousand diamonds in your hair. You deserve someone who’ll run with you as far and as fast as you want to. Holding your hand, not holding you back.”

― Jay Kristoff & Amy KauffmanIlluminae

“raid your library. read everything you can get your hands on & then some.   go on, collect words & polish them up until they shine like starlight in your palm.   make words your finest weapons— a gold-hilted sword to cut your enemies d o w n.   – a survival plan of sorts.”

― Amanda LovelaceThe Princess Saves Herself in this One

“We are made of all those who have built and broken us.”

― Atticus PoetryLove Her Wild

“You have me. Until every last star in the galaxy dies.

You have me.”

― Jay Kristoff & Amie KaufmanIlluminae

“Just remember that it’s not your responsibility to fix a broken man. It’s not worth your time, your effort, your love or your tears. If he’s not willing to fix himself for you, there’s nothing left to do but walk away and move behind his selfish, immature, and ultimately abusive behavior. Not all men are broken, but you have to believe you deserve better. Expect better and you’ll receive better, it’s that simple.”

― Pierre Alex JeantyUnspoken Feelings Of A Gentleman

“You can’t change how other people think and act, but you’re in full control of you. When it comes down to it, the only question that matters is this: If nothing in the world ever changes, what type of man are you gonna be?”

― Nic Stone, Dear Martin

“Chase your stars fool, life is short. ”

― Atticus PoetryLove Her Wild

    1. Yay! I always highlight them when I’m reading a digital copy and then take a photo if it’s a physical one. Checking a book on Goodreads help though because people list quotes there 😁

    1. OMG same! That particular quote from Illuminae is just so so heartfelt. ❤ I also get pulled back every time I read a quote from my fave parts. It’s just like reliving those scenes allover again.

    1. Glad you loved them! Most of them are from my favorite reads this year. I hop you’ll be able to try them. The first I’ll recommend to you is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. It’s just really an important book. ☺

  2. The one from Six of Crows still hits me hard. Thinking of Inez and everything that she went through, she definitely deserves a man like that. All girls deserves a man like that tbh. I love this list! Hopefully next year I get to to list down some of mine too, thank you for sharing this!
